On 22 September 2022, Tim represented GENEO Software at the Bridging the Gap Conference hosted by the Innovation agency in the iconic Spine Building, Liverpool, England.
The conference's key theme was to understand how to overcome the obstacles preventing the successful transplantation of proven innovations from industry into the NHS. It was an excellent forum to meet and mingle with our solutions' potential beneficiaries and share a platform with like-minded SME entrepreneurs seeking to address the growing challenges in healthcare.
This posed a couple of fundamental questions; How might GENEO's success in improving processes be relevant in a healthcare setting? What is the "gap" preventing the adoption of industry best practices in healthcare, and how might we overcome it? Somehow we need to change how the NHS sees standardisation; it should be embraced as an ally, not carried as an obligation. GENEO are experts in standardisation. Standardisation is fundamental for delivering consistent improvement. We help companies to bring their standards to life by simplifying the process and encouraging widespread participation. Accurate, agile standards are not only required to provide everyone with the best guidance to follow; they are the essential component needed to deliver meaningful, serial improvement.
Unfortunately, new technological solutions are often implemented as an adjunct that allows the same old way of doing something to fester in the background, often nullifying the solution's benefits in the process. Two ways are not always better than one! Courage is needed to change this.
